Andrew Tarzia is Assistant Professor of Computational Chemistry for Synthesis & Materials within the School of Chemistry. He did his PhD at the University of Adelaide (finished 2019) under the supervision of David Huang, Christian Doonan and Aaron Thornton. In 2019, he moved to Imperial College London for a post-doctoral position with Kim Jelfs. Then in 2022, he moved to the Polytechnic of Turin in Italy for a Fixed-term Assistant Professor position funded by the EU.

Thomas Greenwood completed his MSci at the University of Birmingham in Physics and Astrophysics in 2025. Here, he searched for signs of extraterrestrial technology linked to period stellar phenomena. Tom has joined the group for his PhD, investigating the design of supramolecular hosts for the capture and neutralization of chemical warfare agents, co-supervised by Dr Adam Michalchuk.

Oliver Kettlewell completed his MSci at the University of Birmingham in Chemistry (2026). He researched how the impact sensitivities of energetic materials are affected by their crystalographic properties. Oliver has joined the Tarzia Research Group for his PhD, looking at the self-assembly prediction of molecular cages through the use of high-throughput screening (HTS) methods, supervised by Dr Andrew Tarzia.
